Filter Testing

Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) filters are unique in that they are required to function over a very wide frequency range, often encompassing several frequency decades.  Gensico testing department verifies that all products perform in accordance with rigorous design specifications over the full intended frequency range.

Using our extensive compliment of instrumentation, testing at Genisco is performed in accordance with applicable portions of such government, specifications as MIL-F-15733, MIL-STD-202, as well as various commercial safety standards (e.g. CSA, VDE,etc.)

Genisco’s filter testing encompasses three main categories:

DC and Power Frequency

Insertion Loss

Environmental

Major tests in each category are:

Three Common methods of Insertion Loss testing are depicted below.

DC and Power Frequency

DCR,insulation resistance, dielectric withstanding voltage, drop and leakage current.  Also tested at relatively low frequencies are inductance and capacitance when requested.

Insertion loss

Both with no load and full rated load per MIL-STD-220A.

Environmental

Both for effects on the environment (such as temperature rise and acoustic noise) and effects by the environment (such as shock, vibration, humidity, salt spray, sealing altitude and temperature cycling).
